Measurement

PRE CHAMPIONSHIP EQUIPMENT CHECKING (Measurement)
INSTRUCTIONS TO COMPETITORS

  • Time slots for measurement are available.  For those who have not chosen a measurement time via the web page the schedule is available at registration.  This process minimises delays for sailors & allow the process to progress as smoothly & quickly as possible.  Sufficient time slots are available to allow all boats to be checked.
  • Boats need to be at the measurement area and ready in good time for the set time.
  • Boats that are not prepared ready & waiting at their set time will have to wait until an alternative time slot is made available by the measurement team.
  • Boats will need to be accompanied by 2 people for the measurement process.
  • To arrive at the measurement area properly prepared boats should comply with the following:-
    • the boat’s Measurement Certificate should be presented.
    • All equipment to be used in the championships will be required ~ hull, mast, boom, spinnaker pole, rudder, centre board & a maximum of 2 suits of sails.
    • A valid ISAF plaque & current year sticker should be displayed.
    • All ‘black’ bands on spars should be properly marked according to rule 17.6.  Tape is not ‘indelibly marked’.  New masts may not be supplied with the bands in the correct place.
    • Hull weights will be measured.  Centreboards will need to be removed.
    • All sails should be pre measured and dry & and stamped & signed by an Official Fireball Measurer.  Any sails which are not signed & stamped will not be approved for use in the Championships.  The Championship Sail Register should be completed, it is available for completion before measurement.
    • If a compass is included in the hull weight it must be presented with the hull.  Please note if you have swapped a ‘Silva’ compass for a ‘Tactic’ compass your hull needs to be re-weighed.  For a few boats measured after the maximum corrector weight was increased this may require increasing the hull weight to compensate.  Rule 9.6 details how re-weighing should be done.
    • Any chartered or loaned boats that are sailing with a sail number which differs from the hull number of the boat shall complete the “Notification of Change of Sail Number Form” & get the necessary approvals before presenting sails for measurement.
  • The measurement team may not complete the measurement of a boat if they find it is not properly prepared at its allocated time.  Any such boats will be told to return with the boat fully prepared at a later time indicated by the measurement team.
  • Boats that are not measured at their allocated time may have to queue & wait.
