Membership


We are always looking for new members and would like to welcome you to join Sligo Yacht Club! You can download our membership form below. For those who wish to pay for their membership by Standing Order, please download the relevant form as well.

Subscriptions 2017

Subscriptions apply for the calendar year and entitle a person to be a member of Sligo yacht Club for the duration of the year for which the fee has been paid.

Membership Category Description Subscription (2017)
Full Member

Persons not less than 19 years of age on January 1 of the current year.

€300*
Family The Member, Partners, together with their children who are under 19 years of age on January 1 of the current year. (Children must be under 19yrs or in full time education) €400*
Senior Over 65 €300*
Junior Must be under 19 yrs or in full-time education €100*
Shore/Social Persons who do not keep a boat at the Club, do not participate regularly in Club sailing activities and who will be entitled to utilize whatever Club facilities are made available by the Committee. €120
Temporary Temporary Members may be elected by Resolution of the Committee for a period of not more than one month in any calendar year. n/a
Honorary/Life Ordinary Members who have rendered special service to the Club. n/a

Membership Categories

Full Member

Individual membership is available to those who have attained nineteen years. Any such person is entitled to use the full facilities of the club including the changing facilities, slipway and social facilities such as the members bar. Full members may be Flag Officers of the club . The member may also avail of the services of the boat man to act as OD for club racing and to provide ferrying services.


Family Member

A family membership may include husband, wife, sons and daughters up to the age of eighteen years (unless in full time education). The determination as to whether or not a person qualifies for family membership will be at the absolute discretion of the Committee. Any such family is entitled to use the full facilities of the club including the changing facilities, slipway and social facilities such as the members bar. These full members may also avail of the services of the boat man to act as OD for club racing and to provide ferrying services.


Junior Member

Individual membership at a reduced subscription is available to those who have not yet attained nineteen years and to persons who are in full time education. Any such person is entitled to use the full facilities of the club including the changing facilities, slipway and social facilities such as the members bar. The member may also avail of the services of the boat man to act as OD for club racing and to provide ferrying services.

 

Shore/Social Member

A person may become a Social member, so long as the member only uses the Clubhouse and its facilities.  A Social member may pay a reduced subscription.  These members are not eligible to participate in sailing events or to use the boat park or on-the-water facilities.


Senior Member

Any member, whether family or individual, over the age of sixty-five years on the 1st. January shall have the option of becoming a senior member at a reduced subscription, while retaining the same privileges as a full member.


Life Member

The Committee may from time to time make available life membership to an individual. A Life member shall have the same rights and obligations as a full member, but will not be required to pay an annual subscription.


Honorary Member

Honorary Membership may be conferred by the Committee upon persons who have given distinguished service to the Club, or to its associated activities. Honorary members shall have the same rights and obligations as full members, but shall not be required to pay any subscription.


Temporary Member

A Member may request Temporary Membership for a person who wishes to participate in club activities on a short term (visitor) or trial basis. Any such proposal should include the basis on which Temporary Membership is being requested. Temporary Membership may be granted with the approval of a member of the Committee and upon payment of the appropriate subscription. Facilities available to Temporary Members will be defined by the Committee. All Temporary memberships shall expire on the day before the Annual General Meeting following their acceptance as Temporary Member.
